High School

Throughout our series we have discussed the various ways to prepare our high schoolers for the many opportunities ahead in their young lives. Now it is time to focus on the impact that we can make as parents in the direction and trajectory of our children.

Albert Einstein hated education in the traditional school setting. He found it too rigid and too dependent on memorization. “School failed me, and I failed the school,” he said in an interview with the author of: Einstein and the Poet: In Search of the Cosmic Man.

In my last blog, I wrote about how the disciplines of Math, Communications, Leadership, and Mental Health play an important role preparing high school students for college. In this blog I will share my views on the importance of creativity in teenagers and why the more creative your teenager is, the more value they can offer in the marketplace, both pre and post-graduation.

In this series of 4 blogs, I’ll be sharing some of my observations and findings from decades of experience, working with teenagers. The scope of this series will be to provide key suggestions to help remedy the crisis we’re facing in schools today.
